A Fresh Approach to an Old Problem?

Most successful companies recognise that training and development for their people is essential if the organisation's potential is to be maximised. Yet 'sending them on a course' is only part of the answer.
Giving people more knowledge doesn't of itself guarantee an improvement in performance.
Mentor Corporate Coaching Limited specialises in getting people to breakthrough performance - a level they wouldn't have achieved without strong coaching - it was founded to develop the principles of spaced learning with strong coaching as an alternative to traditional methods of training and development. Development can be undertaken on an 'open' programme (usually at a public venue), or can be designed specifically for in-house delivery for teams of ten or more.
We don't accept anyone on a development programme until we have conducted a training needs analysis with both the candidate and their boss - this usually involves meeting the people. We want the 'boss' to assume the role of Internal Coach and to accept that they themsleves will be coached by us on the best way of coaching their team member. Only when all three parties - us, the candidate and the candidate's Internal Coach have agreed what needs to change, does the development begin. Progress is evaluated throughout, the outcome being significant and measurable results.
Following this initial 'diagnosis', the 'prescription' is then spread over a period of weeks or months and usually comprises a number of formal, highly participative training sessions, interspersed with individual coaching sessions for both the participant and the participants Internal Coach - usually their immediate boss. We know that this works and at the end of this process, a self-sustaining mechanism is left in place for continuing the individual's growth and development, without the need for external facilitation.
