Before you go any further, conduct your own Personal Development Needs Analysis below:

Stage One

Select three areas where it would benefit you to make further progress or a breakthrough in your personal effectiveness. Your choices can include areas where you are already strong but want to be even better, as well as areas where you would like to make further progress.

  1. Confidence and Assertiveness
    Develop more poise and self-confidence, particularly under pressure and in new situations. Recognise the difference between assertiveness and aggression, and be more in control.

  2. Communication
    Develop improved communictions both peronally and within the organisation. Be more persuasive and put ideas across so as to avoid misunderstandings and conflict.

  3. Presentation Skills
    Overcome fear of an audience. Be at ease in front of groups and in meetings. Think on your feet. Say what you want to say in a professional manner.

  4. Interpersonal Skills
    Deal more effectively with people. Inspire, motivate and lead others. Develop rapport and understanding with a wide range of people.

  5. Team Work
    Build the team spirit and have a better working relationship. Improve performance.

  6. Enthusiasm
    Be an inspiration to others. Operate at peak performance. Set and accompish goals - change intentions into commitments. Form new plans of action. Become better organised and use your time more effectively.

  7. Positive Attitude
    Think constructively. Solve personal and business problems. Manage stress and worry.

  8. Leadership
    Deal with difficulties and problems more positively, take on more responsibility. Learn how to enable, coach and empower people. Manage chenge in positive way.

Stage Two

For each area you've selected, ask yourself:

  1. Why is that important to you?
    For instance, what situation have you found yourself in, where extra skill would have helped you perform better, or achieve a more successful result?

  2. What advantage will follow to you when you have made progress in this area?
