Very often, business leaders don't realise that they are part of the problem - 'if other people would get their act together, everything would be alright'. By becoming part of the solution and having an external coach who isn't emotionally involved with their challenges, the improvement process is simple, yet challenging.

All Mentor Development Programmes include one-to-one coaching. Following 'formal' develoment, some want to continue sessions with their external coach to maintain their progress.

 10 Steps

1. Identify what needs to be different and why?

2. What's happening now?

3. What has been tried so far?

4. Why has it not worked as well as it should?

5. What will result if the situation doesn't change?

6. What are the barriers to making progress?

7. What will be the impact when significant progress has been made?

8. What action will you take to start the process?

9. By when will you do it?

10. What further support will you need?

Mentor Corporate Coaching's external coaches hold individuals accountable for implementing the action commitments made, maintaining empowerment and accountability - this is challenging for participants as they are not 'let off the hook', but guess what the result is - permanent growth. Skills training is given in areas needed, for example: dealing with conflict, delegating in an empowering way and coaching, but essentially an external coach will just get you to do what you know you should be doing anyway.

Commonly, individual coaching sessions with business leaders are approximately 3 hours' duration on a quarterly basis, giving time for action commitments to be implemented. The ultimate objective is to get the participant operating within their own self-sustaining mechanism, without the need for an external coach.
